REGENERATIVE MEDICINE - MODULE 1: A BIRD’S EYE VIEW

Date: 2010-11-01/05
Place: Groningen
All you ever wanted to know about Regenerative Medicine, but were afraid to ask
Every morning leading experts from all around the Netherlands will introduce the entire multidisciplinary field of regenerative medicine. During the afternoon you will work in small multidisciplinary groups on the assignment which is to prepare and present (last day) a grant proposal that relates to regenerative medicine. The proposal will be judged by a jury of experts. This is also an ideal opportunity to network with colleagues from the entire country. In the evening, clinical applications of regenerative medicine and future demands and prospects will be presented and discussed. Every day will be devoted to a specific item in RM.
Triple-B i.e. from Bed to Bench and Back (BBB) is the central theme in this introduction to Regenerative Medicine. BBB also emphasizes the multidisciplinary nature of RM: the participants will be educated by specialists in clinical fields that range from cardiovascular disease via musculoskeletal defects to diabetes and from polymer chemistry via molecular and cell biology to valorization of knowledge. After the course, participants will be aware of the major issues in RM and where to find and contact the leading specialists in the Netherlands. The course is organized in daily disease themes. Throughout the course the participating PhD students from different scientific disciplines will form working groups that each composes a grant proposal on a RM topic, which will be presented and defended for a jury of specialists.
