BMM PROJECT LEADER CHRIS ARTS RECEIVES GÖRAN BAUER'S GRANT

TALLINN, Estonia, 2012-05-04

The number of applications was very high this year. Eight applications for the Göran Bauer's
grant 2012 were received. The Nordic Orthopaedic Federation Board appreciated the high level and awarded the Göran Bauer grant (together) to Anders Troelsen (Denmark) to support a research fellowship at the Harris Orthopaedic Laboratory at Massachusetts and to Chris Arts (Netherlands, Project Leader of the BMM Project Spineguide) for a visit to the Avon Orthopaedic Centre in Bristol in order to establish a broader research cooperation on bone graft substitute materials and patient recovery after joint arthroplasty and to strengthen research expertise.

The purposes of the Göran Bauer's grant are to support study tours to orthopaedic institutions as a part of a scientific project, and to sponsor scientific meetings.
Dr. Chris Arts, scientist and lecturer at the department of orthopedic surgery of the University of Maastricht, was awarded the grant for a visit to the Avon Orthopaedic Centre in Bristol in order to establish broader international research cooperation between Bristol and Maastricht on bone graft substitute materials and patient recovery after joint arthroplasty. He will also use the visit to Bristol to strengthen his research expertise and grant writing skills.
